ICONIC ENTERTAINMENT PR PROS TO TEACH FOR UCLA EXTENSION
Henri Bollinger & Julian Myers Debut as Co-Instructors for Six-week PR Course
Los Angeles: Henri Bollinger and Julian Myers, two leading entertainment publicists, will co-teach a six-week course titled Entertainment Public Relations for UCLA Extension, February 3 – March 10, 2010. This is a rare opportunity for students to gain exposure to two top PR pros with a combined continuous record of 90 years in the field and who continue to practice to this day.
They also have long experience as UCLA Extension instructors, each having taught courses there for more than 30 years. Myers and Bollinger will provide students insight into the realities of the profession while also teaching the skills needed to succeed. The treasure trove of information as well as connections to senior level executives and management they offer students is unparalleled. Literally hundreds of their past students have succeeded in becoming Hollywood publicists.
The course will explore strategies for creating and executing publicity campaigns for entertainment products. The instructors’ long experience as entertainment publicists is the basis for the curriculum which provides information, techniques and strategies employed in all areas of entertainment publicity. Subject matter to be covered includes the development of publicity campaigns; electronic media; social media; working relationships with the media; and writing effective press releases.
“Students will find this course to be revealing and enlightening,” said Bollinger. “They will also be inspired by the guest speakers,” said Myers. “This is a unique opportunity for people interested in exploring career opportunities offered through entertainment publicity.”
Guest speakers who will share information and experiences with students include Brad Bessey, Co-Executive Producer of “Entertainment Tonight”; David Bowman, President International Association of Career Consulting Firms and owner of TTG Consultants, Inc., a leading employment advisor to the major studios; Hollace Davids, Sr. Vice President, Special Projects, Universal Pictures; Chris Ender, Sr. Vice President, CBS Entertainment; Sid Ganis, immediate past president Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and President of Out of the Blue Entertainment ; Curt King, Senior Vice-President of Publicity, Marketing and Corporate Communications for Universal Media Studios; A.C. Lyles, originally a publicist, now in his 73rd year at Paramount Studios, where he has produced 40 motion pictures and is Paramount’s Ambassador of Goodwill; Stan Rosenfield, President, Stan Rosenfield & Associates; Flo Selfman, owner of Selfman & Others, who specializes in publicity writing.
