Dear PRSA-LA Member,

I'm writing this message coming off the emotional high of watching our nation's 44th president sworn into office. Despite some of the grim realities of our time, the event left me with a renewed sense of optimism for the future.

rita_bio2As I enter my second term of office as president of PRSA-LA, I'm also full of optimism that 2009 will be the best year yet for our chapter. Demonstrating the value of membership and developing new opportunities for member involvement will be among our top priorities. To this end, 20 committees are in the process of being formed.

Our chapter is also blessed to have a very talented and energetic board of directors committed to providing the strategic thinking and planning required to accomplish our objectives.

I know first-hand that the best way to get the most from your membership is to become actively involved. With this in mind, I invite you to click on this committee link to find an opportunity that interests you. Please feel free to contact the committee chairs/co-chairs listed in the PRSA-LA online Member Directory. You may also contact Brian O'Connor, PRSA-LA Vice President and Volunteer Coordinator, at bocprbox@gmail.com.

Here's to a happy and prosperous new year!
