About Don Perkins
Grant benefactor Don Perkins grew up in Inglewood and served in the U.S. Armed Services in World War II before he passed away in 1985. His career included managing public relations activities for North American Aviation, the Veteran's Administration, Los Angeles Mayor Fletcher Brown, Toastmaster International, and a major Hollywood publicity firm. In 1951, Perkins became the public relations director for the National Safety Council and produced an NBC radio show called “Stars for Safety.” He also spent a decade as editor of the Southgate Reporter before retiring in 1982.
